~ ADR

ADR – An acronym for Automated Dialogue Replacement

ADR, sometimes called dubbing or looping, is done during the post-production process and is a means of replacing the original audio from a scene with a voice over by either the original actor or a voice over artist. It’s often necessary when the audio of a specific shot or scene has been compromised.
Check out more about it at The Beat.

Here is a little snippet I dubbed (all the voices!) from CBeebies.

Another need for audio replacement or enhancement in video is Audio Description.  It attempts to describe what the sighted person often takes for granted, those images that a person who is blind or visually impaired formerly could only experience through the whispered asides from a sighted companion are now voiced in Audio Description. Making the visual arts more accessible for all.

Information about key elements are provided in an Audio description service in visual mediums, in benefit of visually impaired or blind people.

“Audio Description is commentary and narration which guides the listener through the presentation with concise, objective descriptions of new scenes, settings, costumes, and body language, all slipped in between portions of dialogue or songs. “ https://adp.acb.org/ad.html
